Inside the Webo v2 Release: Smarter, Sharper, More Accurate

A behind-the-scenes look at what’s new in our free website check-up tool, and what’s coming next.

The mission of Website Medic has always been simple: to do right by businesses by giving them clear, useful insights into what is really going on with their websites, in plain English.

This means continued investment in Webo, our free website check-up tool, to make it smarter, more accurate, and full-featured. Here’s what changed and a quick look at what is coming next.

Page speed, now straight from the source

Speed scores in Webo now pull directly from Google PageSpeed Insights, the same tool a developer or marketer would use to check a site manually. In v1, scores came from a third-party database that sometimes drifted from Google’s own results, which caused confusing mismatches.

For both accuracy and credibility, when Webo gives you a speed score, you are looking at the identical data Google does.

Performance metrics, finally readable

Page speed may be a single number, but the metrics underneath it tell the real story. How long before the page feels usable? How fast does the first piece of content appear? How long does the full load take in total?

Webo v2 captures these real loading metrics and presents them in plain English, for example, “4.2s” instead of a raw technical label that only a developer would recognize. If a business owner reads the report, they should be able to understand it without translation.

SEO scoring with a sharper eye

The SEO category got tighter scoring rules and a more accurate read on the issues that meaningfully move the needle. Webo now flags missing meta tags, weak page structure, and thin content with more confidence and fewer false positives. The result is a clearer picture of which fixes will improve search visibility.

SSL security, fixed and accurate

Webo correctly reads the certificate status, expiry date, days remaining, and issuer. It also catches technically valid certificates that are expiring soon, so businesses get a heads-up before a lapse turns into a real problem.

Broken links, now reading the right data

Broken links are easy to overlook, but they quietly chip away at SEO and user trust. Webo v2 reads the real crawlability data and scores accordingly, with deeper scanning that catches the kinds of dead links that hide on older posts and footer menus.

Tighter analysis, less contradiction

Webo’s AI engine got a meaningful upgrade. The scoring rules are stricter across all six categories, the written summaries are more accurate, and the guidance is less likely to contradict itself across sections. If Webo says your performance is strong, but your SEO is hurting, you can now trust those two takeaways to line up with the underlying data.

We will keep refining this part of the tool indefinitely. The goal is always the same: an audit that reads like advice from a knowledgeable person, not a wall of metrics.

What’s next: AI Visibility

The next release of Webo is already in the works, and it’s big. We are adding a new audit category called AI Visibility, which measures how visible a business is when real users ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini for recommendations in their industry.

AI Visibility in Webo will tell you which platforms mention your business, where you rank in their responses, whether your domain gets cited as a source, and what the sentiment looks like. It will run on the same audit page, in the same format, so the answer is there alongside everything else.

More on that soon.

We’d love your feedback.

If you haven’t used Webo before, this is a great time! Run your site through a free check-up, see what comes back, and use it as a starting point for whatever you decide to fix, improve, or leave alone.
